THE MOST FAMOUS BLUE, BLUE-GREY COLOUR WEDGWOOD

A colour derived from the 18th century blue “Jasperware”, popularised by the innovative industrialist Josiah Wedgwood at his Etrurian pottery in Staffordshire.

In 1774, Josiah invented a special type of unglazed porcelain and created the Jasper collection, which is still incredibly popular today.

The shade palette of the Jasper collection is very diverse: blue, grey, lilac, yellow, green, dark red, black and brown. But the trademark of the Wedgwood brand was the blue colour line, as a vivid example of neoclassicism. The colour was reflected not only in collections of tableware and interior items, but also in jewellery and interior design.

Pale Wedgwood sits happily alongside related neutrals, such as Mid Lead Colour and Shallows, for a clean and calming aesthetic.
